We have been trading
in downland Sussex for over 25 years, having opened our first bookshop
on the south coast near Brighton in 1980. We went on to run two quaint
bookshops in the beautiful Cathedral city of Chichester until May 2004.
The last one called Canon Gate Bookshop was situated near the historic
gateway of the same name (illustrated here), which leads into the
cathedral precincts.
We have always
endeavoured to maintain fairness and courtesy in our business dealings -
and we believe that the principles of careful presentation and accurate
description of stock are as important when selling to customers worldwide
on the internet as we considered they were when welcoming visitors to our
bookshops.
Although we have
always been general booksellers, our main subjects of interest are Christian spirituality and comparative religion. We are
also particularly drawn to books on India, Tibet and Eastern travel
generally. We have in stock a considerable quantity of books on other
subjects too - with an emphasis on history.
For many years we were members of
the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association, one
of the UK’s leading associations for the second-hand and antiquarian
book-trade and we
continue to abide by the PBFA's high standards of trading practice,
although we no longer trade at book fairs and have accordingly recently
retired as members.
